Canine Good Citizen
We are now offering the gold standard of training classes recommended by the AKC for dogs that have completed basic obedience. Canine Good Citizen is a certificate given by the AKC to recognize all of the training and hard work you have put into your dog as a responsible pet owner. As a lead up to the certification test, we offer a series of 5 classes to help prepare you and your dog for the evaluation. During the 6th and final session, your dog will be tested on 10 different elements. Whether you’re interested in future therapy work, or whether you simply want a well-mannered dog, Canine Good Citizen is the final step before advanced obedience, sporting work, or continuation to therapy certification. Instructors for the class are Janalee Gallagher and Sue Samson. Janalee currently manages training at ZCK and has formally trained working dogs since 1997. She is an active member of the IACP. She has certified several dogs within the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue system and has responded to multiple disasters as a Canine Search Specialist with Indiana Task Force-1. Sue manages the socialization programs and temperament testing at Zionsville Country Kennel , trains dogs, conducts group and private lessons, and handles many administrative responsibilities around the kennel.
